He oído de muchas celebridades famosas que han pasado vacaciones en Panamá y nadie siquiera las ha reconocido mientras estuvieron aquí. Si Martha Stewart no hubiera subido fotos suyas con el presidente de Panamá, Ricardo Marinelli a su cuenta de twitter, nadie lo hubiera notado, tampoco.

En el post Martha Stewart publicó las fotos y dijo ‘el presidente de Panama, Ricardo Martinelli y yo nos conocimos en Isla Simca. Panamá está creciiendo + prosperando.’ Martha Stewart estuvo en Panamá para celebrar el cumpleaños del dueño de la isla, el filántropo millonario Jean Pigozzi, fundador de la fábrica de autos francesa Simca. También subió a tweeter “gran día en isla simca, kayack, caminatas, explorando, cabalgando, picnis, andar en bote,” en otra foto con Martinelli y Pigozzi.

A mediados de los 1960, Pigozzi empezó a comprar tierra alrededor de Bahía Honda en Panamá para conservación y crear una estación tropical de investigación marina.

Johnny ha cambiado el nombre de la isla, Simca Island, Provincia de Veraguas, Panamá, en honor de la empresa familiar. Simca es la marca de autos fundada por la familia Pigozzi.
