Ciclista belga, es devuelto a su país tras aparecer borracho

El Comité Olímpico Belga confirmó que el ciclista será devuelto a su país tras ser captado en estado de embriaguez en un club nocturno londinense, durante la celebración de los Juegos Olímpicos.

Gijs Van Hoecke será devuelto su país después de que la prensa británica publicase imágenes del joven en evidente estado de embriaguez saliendo de un club londinense de madrugada, según ha confirmado el Comité Olímpico e Interfederal de Bélgica (COIB).

En las imágenes se ve al joven, que compite en ciclismo en pista, sin capacidad de tenerse en pie por su cuenta y sujetado por dos de sus compañeros, que le ayudan a subir a un taxi, según se ve hoy en la página web del diario Daily Mirror.

Tras ver las imágenes, el COIB ha decidido hacer volver antes de tiempo al jugador, quien terminó en el puesto decimoquinto en la prueba de ciclismo en pista.

Lo siento mucho. Pero creo que tras dos años de intenso trabajo de preparación, tenía derecho a divertirme. No he dado buena imagen al ciclismo en pista, ni con mi resultado ni con mi comportamiento, así que si soy sancionado lo aceptaré, ha declarado televisión francófona RTBF.
