'Mano dura' contra los 'rapidos y furiosos'

Toda persona que sea sorprendida en ‘regatas’ por la vía pública será sancionada con multas que van de 2 mil 500 dólares hasta los 5 mil dólares.

Además, su licencia de conducir será suspendida en un período que va de seis meses a un año, según lo aprobó ayer la junta directiva de la Autoridad del Tránsito, que preside el viceministro de Gobierno y Justicia, Alejandro Pérez.

La directiva de la Autoridad del Tránsito consideró también la retención del vehículo hasta cuando el propietario elimine las modificaciones que le dan más velocidad.

Un boletín de prensa del Ministerio de Gobierno y Justicia precisa que la persona sancionada deberá ejecutar labores comunitarias que van de tres meses a un año, “dependiendo de las reincidencias”.

Los trabajos comunitarios incluirán corte de herbazales, limpieza de calles y trabajos en las morgues de los hospitales, entre otros. Asi lo resume una noticia aparecida en el diario “La Prensa” donde aparece con lujo de detalles todo sobre esta nueva ley que sanciona a los que hacen “regatas” en las calles.

Los “rapidos y furiosos” podrian perder hasta su vehiculo si son reincidentes.

Señala el comunicado oficial que se hizo énfasis en que las personas sancionadas por participar en regatas, si no cumplen con los trabajos comunitarios injustificadamente en cualquier instancia de la sanción, “deberán empezar de nuevo”.

Estas medidas han sido adoptadas para evitar la muerte de inocentes bajo las ruedas de irresponsables de diferentes edades.

Pero lo curioso es que antes se habia dicho lo mismo y lo cierto que las “regatas” no han disminuido, sera que el gobierno amenaza y no hace nada para frenar estas carreras de autos que han costado la vida a varios panameños? Habra algo diferente esta vez? O sera que la culpa de todo esto la tienen los que quieren ser irresponsables y jugar con su vida y las de otros automovilistas? Serviran las medidas? Lo cierto es que muchos siguen corriendo y el gobierno se hace de la vista gorda. Habra algo diferente esta vez?
